Our swimming pool is ready!

Dear Parents,

We are very pleased to be able to offer swimming lessons over the coming months. We have arranged for a temporary swimming pool to be set up at school for the second half of the Spring Term and the whole of the Summer Term.

The pool is 10m long, 5m wide, with a maximum depth of 1.2m. The pool will be heated throughout at around 28 degrees and enclosed in a marquee near the school field.

Children in Years 3 to 6 will start their lessons from Monday 6th March.

We acknowledge that this may be a little late notice for some parents but school have been waiting for the official go-ahead that the pool is ready.

Swimming lesson days will be:

Year 5 Tuesday

Year 3 Wednesday

Year 4 Thursday

Year 6 Friday

Children will have a 30 minute session every week, in small groups (maximum of 10) taught by qualified swimming instructors and supervised by school staff.

Changing facilities are provided in individual pods close to where the swimming pool will be situated.

We hope that this will enable us to achieve the Government target of every child being able to swim 25m by the time they leave school.

For the sessions, children will need:
  • a practical one-piece swimming costume (girls) or non baggy swimming shorts or trunks (boys);

  • a towel,

  • a dressing gown or hooded robe for moving from the changing pods to the pool and vice versa

  • flip flops or 'crocs' or shoes that are easily removed for moving from the changing pods to the pool and vice versa.

  • Long hair must be tied back or a swimming hat needs to be worn.

  • This should all fit in a swimming bag or plastic bag.

There is strict guidance that NO jewellery can be worn during swimming sessions. All jewellery, including stud earrings, must be removed or children will not be able to take part in their lesson.
