Update: NEU Teacher Strike Action

Dear Parents,

As mentioned last week, the National Education Union (NEU) have balloted their members and confirmed strike action on selected dates in February and March 2023.

The dates for the industrial action that might affect this school are:

• Wednesday 1 February 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales

• Wednesday 1 March 2023: all eligible members in the following English regions: East Midlands, West Midlands

• Wednesday 15 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales

• Thursday 16 March 2023: all eligible members in England and Wales

School will remain OPEN TO ALL PUPILS TOMORROW for at least tomorrow's strike as not all teachers are in this union and not all teachers will be taking strike action on these days. Although, in some classes, your child may not be taught by their usual class teacher.

As mentioned last week, strike action remains an ever-changing situation and I will update parents ahead of the next day of planned strikes (1st March) should school be affected in any way. It may be that parents may wish to have a contingency plan for the dates following tomorrow's first day of strikes just in case there does have to be closures.

The decision to close the school to all or some groups of children is never taken lightly. However, where staff do elect to take lawful industrial action, school has to consider very carefully if we are able to make suitable arrangements to ensure the health, safety and well-being of children throughout the day.
