Half Term starts today and change is coming...

Dear Parents and Carers,

I write to inform that plans are now underway ahead of school reopening and we can now start sharing these with you.

Wolverhampton City Council have this week announced that there is to be a city-wide INSET day on Monday 1st June 2020 to allow schools the time to prepare resources, classrooms and ensure that all enhanced cleaning processes are completed. This means that schools in Wolverhampton will be planning to close to all pupils on this day. This includes key worker children. School will be open to staff only on this day.

We have had to make some really tough decisions over recent weeks and they may not prove to be popular with some parents however we have made these decisions with the safety of the children and staff of Stow Heath at the very centre of every decision we have made and that every decision has not been made lightly. The provision we have been offering since school closed must now change now that we have more pupils returning. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any other provision other than those stated on the information sheets for each year group.

We have tried to put together an information sheet for each returning year group with questions that we feel parents may want to ask. You will find these information sheets on other posts below this one.

For our pupils who are in year groups that are not yet returning or for those who have chosen not to send their child back to school, there will be weekly work updates uploaded to the school website for you to use and print off at home. We will be offering limited printed packs but these will need to be ordered in advance. More details on these to follow.

Today, we should be breaking for our half term holiday. However school will be open Tuesday-Friday (Monday is bank holiday) for those key worker children who have booked their places. If you have not yet booked a place, we will not be able to accept your child in school. Our staff have volunteered to work through the half term holiday to provide this provision and we have staffed it according to number of pupils. Any child not booked in by 3pm today will not be able to attend.

As it is half term, our school kitchen will be closed. Children attending school will need to bring their own packed lunches and drinks bottles every day that they are attending. Similarly the school office will be closed this week and, although there will be staff in school, they may not always be able to take phone calls and we ask that parents are patient with us over the next few days.

For now though, enjoy the bank holiday weekend and the half term week ahead of us.

Stay safe everyone!
